Some hidden worlds are memorable because of the dangers they conceal.

Others stay with us because of the people who protect them.

The Sentinel Witches' society is that kind of hidden world for me. The people draw me back to writing The Sentinel Witches series. Their relationships, traditions, and close connection with the sacred have become just as compelling to me as the magic or the battles.

The Sentinel Witches’ courage in facing dangerous situations while fulfilling their ancient responsibilities makes me realize its greatest strength isn't its magic, but the community itself.

These essays are from my journals as I spend time getting to know the Sentinel Witches' society, the people who give it meaning, and their various allies.
