Moonbeams and Starships Magazine publishes new, provocative, and emotional fantasy and science fiction. We publish stories and articles written exclusively by women and feature strong female protagonists. We love publishing the work of new, emerging authors and Independent authors.
We believe women’s voices are under-represented in fantasy and science fiction. There are many talented women authors in this space. Our publication highlights these authors.
The magazine is published bi-monthly (6 times a year). Each issue will include original stories, poetry, art, and interviews. The online version will include non-fiction articles. The number of stories published in an issue depends on the submissions we receive. At a minimum, we expect to publish:
- Two Novellas (1 fantasy, 1 science fiction)
- Six Short Stories (3 fantasy, 3 science fiction)
- Two Poems (1 fantasy, 1 science fiction)
- Two Flash Fiction (1 fantasy, 1 science fiction)
Who We Are
Moonbeams and Starships Magazine is the love child of fantasy and science-fantasy author, Tora Moon. She is the publisher and editor-in-chief. Tora has had a lifelong love affair with fantasy and science fiction since finding Dune, Conan the Barbarian, the Xanth series, and the Dragonriders of Pern (which is still her all-time favorite series) as a teenager.
Tora enjoyed the long-standing magazines such as Fantasy and SciFi Magazine and Analog, but she found the lack of stories written by women discouraging and frustrating. As an advocate for women’s empowerment, she’s been determined to feature the voices of women in fantasy and science fiction. Moonbeams and Starships Magazine and Podcast is the culmination of her desire.
Lunar Alchemy Publishing Company publishes Moonbeams and Starships Magazine.
Tora Moon is the author of the Legends of Lairheim Series, a science fantasy. This genre blending story is full of magic wielding women and shapeshifting men fighting monsters to survive, plus, an alien invasion thrown in for spice. She is currently working on a new urban fantasy series.
Ms. Moon spent over 25 years working as a Certified Public Accountant. She worked with many small businesses as their Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for hire.
Ms. Moon’s accounting, business, and author background gives her the insight, skills, and experience to manage a fantasy and science fiction magazine.
